By car

From A12 London
Take the exit marked for central Colchester A133 from the A12. At the next roundabout take the 2nd left onto the Avenue of Remembrance. Straight over the next 4 roundabouts keeping on the A133 and following signs to the University. At the *5th roundabout take 2nd left to Clacton (signposted University and Beth Chattos garden) follow road for 1000 metres (2/3 mile) and turn right at the top of the hill following the signs for B1027/1028 for Wivenhoe. Go over the traffic lights, up to the next set of traffic lights, go straight over, take the first turning on the right into the University campus and into Boundary Road. Take 1st right into Park Road, follow the road down and we are at the end of the road.

From A12 Ipswich
Take the first turning off for Colchester. When you approach the roundabout take 2nd exit towards Colchester (Lind garage on left) go straight over set of traffic lights, straight over Rovers Tye roundabout (pub on right). Carry straight down that road, at the next roundabout take the 1st left exit (Glynn Webb on left), next roundabout go straight over. At next roundabout take 2nd left to Clacton (signposted University and Beth Chattos garden) follow road for 1000 metres (2/3 mile) and turn right at the top of the hill following the signs for B1027/1028 for Wivenhoe. Go over the traffic lights, up to the next set of traffic lights, go straight over, take the first turning on the right into the University campus and into Boundary Road. Take 1st right into Park Road, follow the road down and we are at the end of the road.

From Colchester Town Centre
Going down Colchester High Street, take the left-hand lane at the traffic lights near Colchester Castle. Go straight on and at the bottom of the hill go straight over traffic lights up to a roundabout, straight over and on to a mini roundabout. Take the second exit and on over the level crossing. Continue to the double roundabout and take the third exit towards Clacton. At the next roundabout go clockwise and take 2nd left to Clacton (signposted University and Beth Chattos garden) follow road for 1000 metres (2/3 mile) and turn right at the top of the hill following the signs for B1027/1028 for Wivenhoe and the University. Go over the traffic lights, up to the next set of traffic lights, go straight over, take the first turning on the right into the University campus and into Boundary Road. There is limited free parking at Wivenhoe House for guests. Please collect a permit from reception on arrival.

By train
A regular main line service from Liverpool Street runs to Colchester North Station. Journey time just under one hour. Taxis are available in the station forecourt.

By air
Stansted Airport is only 40 minutes away, taxi services for the airport can be arranged. There are many domestic flights into Stansted and regular flights to Europe.

By ferry
Harwich is 25 minutes drive away with regular sailings to the Hook of Holland and Scandinavia.
